USG offers comprehensive health and financial protection for employees and their families through our SelectBenefits Program. This extensive benefits package allows flexibility to choose individualized benefit coverage to meet the present and future needs of employees and their families.

Health Care

These benefits are all deducted per pay period on a pre-tax basis.

 

BenefitDescription
Medical PlansUsg offers a Consumer Directed Health Plan (CDHP), a Preferred Provider Option (PPO), and Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) in some locations.
Dental PlanThe dental plan is designed with a special emphasis on preventative care. It also covers major dental work such as fillings, extractions, crowns, bridges, oral surgery, and dentures.
Vision PlanThe vision plan is designed to provide for regular eye examinations and benefits toward vision care expenses including glasses and/or contact lenses.
Health Care SelectAccountEmployees can select a specific dollar amount up to $2,500 annually to be used to pay for qualified medical expenses not covered by the group plans.
Dependent Care SelectAccountEmployees can elect a specific dollar amount up to $5,000 annually to be used to pay for qualified child or adult day care expenses.

BenefitDescription
Short Term Disability (STD)USG provides STD coverage at no cost to the employee. These plans provide income protection for up to six months during periods of extended illness and disability.
Long Term Disability (LTD)Employees can elect this coverage to provide income protection in the event an extended illness or disability lasts beyond six months.  This coverage is deducted on a pre-tax basis.
Basic Life InsuranceUSG provides basic life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance at no cost to the employee.
Supplemental Life InsuranceSupplemental life insurance offers additional life and accidental & dismemberment insurance protection.
Dependent Life InsuranceEmployees may elect to provide life insurance for their spouse and/or children. The plan will pay a lump-sum benefit to you if your spouse and/or children pass away while covered.
Retirement PlanThe USG Retirement Plan is designed to provide a monthly income benefit for life or a lump sum benefit based on your pay, age and years of benefit service with the Company. The plan is a contributory defined benefit cash balance plan with full vesting after 3 years participation.
Investment PlanThe Investment Plan is a defined contribution plan more commonly known as a 401(k) plan. Employees may invest 1% to 50% of their compensation on a pre-tax basis in any of the target retirement date funds or nine core investment options. Participants earn a Corporation match of 10% on their first 1% through 6% of their contributions. Employees are fully vested in Company Matching after 3 years of participation.
Financial Planning ProgramThe Financial Planning Program through PriceWaterhouseCoopers is designed to help employees and their family better plan to meet future financial goals by providing valuable telephonic and online financial tools to help participants plan for major financial decisions and future security.
