Health Care
- Select Benefits - The SelectBenefits Program allows USG employees the flexibility to choose benefit coverage individually designed to meet their needs. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Dependent Life Insurance, Long-Term Disability, Vacation Buy/Sell, and the Financial Planning Program. Through the SelectAccounts option, employees can also establish Health Care and Dependent/Day Care accounts with tax-free dollars to “reimburse themselves” for certain qualifying expenses.
- Medical Plans - Medical coverage is available to all new employees. Medical options include a Consumer Directed Heath Plan (CDHP), a Preferred Provider Option (PPO), and Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) in some locations.
- Dental Plan - The dental plan is designed with a special emphasis on preventive care. It also covers major dental work such as fillings, extractions, crowns, bridges, oral surgery and dentures.
- Vision Plan - The plan is designed to provide for regular eye examinations and benefits toward vision care expenses including glasses and/or contact lenses.
- Medical Flexible Spending Account - Employees can elect to have a specific dollar amount deducted each pay period on a pre-tax basis. These tax efficient dollars can be used to pay for medical expenses not covered by the group plans
Financial Security
- Short Term Disability (STD) - These plans provide income protection for up to six months during periods of extended illness and disability.
- Basic Life Insurance - USG provides basic life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance at no cost to the employee.
- Supplemental Life Insurance - Supplemental insurance offers additional life insurance protection plus the opportunity to build a tax-deferred cash accumulation fund.
- Dependent Life Insurance - Employees may elect to provide life insurance for their spouse and/or children. The plan will pay a lump-sum benefit to you if your spouse and/or children should pass away while covered.
- Retirement Plan - The USG Retirement Plan is designed to provide a monthly income benefit for life when you retire based on your pay and your years of benefit service with the Company. The plan is a contributory defined benefit cash balance plan with full vesting after 3 years participation.
- Investment Plan - The Investment Plan is a defined contribution plan more commonly known as a 401(k) plan. The plan provides employees with a supplement to the Retirement Plan. Employees may invest 1% to 20% of their compensation on a pre-tax basis in any of nine investment options offered. Participants earn a guaranteed Corporation match of 10% on their first 1% through 6% of their contributions. Employees are fully vested in Company Matching after three (3) years of participation.
- Long-Term Care Insurance - Long-Term Care Insurance is designed to help participants insure themselves against the high cost of extended non-medical custodial or skilled care that is generally not covered by the USG Medical plans. This type of care might be needed should a participant, through an accident, illness or the natural aging process, require assistance with performing routine activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and eating.
- Financial Planning Program - The Financial Planning Program through PriceWaterhouseCoopers is designed to help employees and their families better plan to meet future financial goals by providing valuable financial tools to help participants plan for major financial decisions and future security.

Other Employee Benefits
- Incentive Programs - Virtually every USG employee participates in one of the Corporation or subsidiary annual incentive programs. The purpose of these plans is to enhance the spirit of teamwork and to further encourage employees to contribute to and share in the positive performance achievements of their company.
- Employee Discounts - Employees may purchase USG products at a 15% discount.
- Travel Services - Employees can request pricing and information, airline, car and hotel reservations, changes or cancellations by telephone or email through USG’s Travel Department/Best Travel.
