FIRECODE® Intumescent Acrylic Firestop Sealant Type IA
FIRECODE Intumescent Acrylic Firestop Sealant Type IA is a specially formulated, caulk-type, acrylic material for through-penetration firestop applications, including plastic and insulated pipe. It expands when heated to fill voids caused from combustible materials burned or melted during a fire (for example, penetrations with plastic or insulated pipe).
The single-component, water-based, acrylic sealant applies easily using conventional caulking equipment, adhering to most surfaces without priming. It remains flexible when dry, making it resistant to damage from impact and preventing it from cracking. It dries to a rust red color that is easily seen and identified by fire marshals; once fully cured, it can be painted.
The sealant meets ASTM E814 (ANSI/UL 1479) ULC-S115 in tests conducted at Underwriters Laboratories.
