Design Wizard

There are two Design Wizard versions:

  • Design Wizard 2.3 works in conjunction with AutoCAD, which is required*.
  • The smaller, standalone Specification Wizard, does not require AutoCAD. Specification Wizard is used to view USG products and create “projects,” which can later be applied to an AutoCAD drawing on a system with Design Wizard 2.3 installed.

*Design Wizard 2.3 requires AutoCAD 2000, 2000i, 2002, ADT 3.0 or ADT 3.3. Design Wizard 2.3 will not run with any version of AutoCAD LT.

Download & Installation Instructions

  1. Begin by clicking “Download” to download Design Wizard 2.3 or Specification Wizard.
  2. Click “Yes” to accept the License Agreement.
  3. If downloading the complete Design Wizard 2.3, you’ll be prompted to choose Design Wizard or Specification Wizard.
  4. If downloading the complete Design Wizard 2.3, the installer will verity that you have a compatible version of AutoCAD installed*. Click “Next” to continue.
  5. Click “Next” to accept the proposed location for the downloaded files, or click “Browse” to choose a new location.
  6. Click “Next” to accept the proposed folder name, or enter a new folder name.
  7. You must restart your computer before using Design Wizard 2.3. Click “Finish” to complete installation and restart your computer.

Loading Design Wizard to AutoCAD:

Before loading Design Wizard into AutoCAD, verify the correct support file paths. To view all current support file paths:

  1. Open AutoCAD.
  2. Select “Options” from the Tools menu.
  3. Make sure the “Options” dialog is selected in the Files tab.
  4. Double-click “Support File Search Path.”
  5. Verify that Design Wizard and Design Wizard\Support are listed. If you installed to the default location, the Design Wizard paths will be:

    C:\Program Files\USG\Design Wizard
    C:\Program Files\USG\Design Wizard\Support

Adding the Support Files:

If the support files are not present, you’ll need to add them:

  1. Click the “Add” button.
  2. Click the “Browse” button and go to the Design Wizard directory. The default location is C:\Program Files\USG\Design Wizard.
  3. Highlight the Design Wizard directory and click “OK.”
  4. Add the Design Wizard support path by repeating steps 1-3. The support path default location is C:\Program Files\USG\Design Wizard\Support.
  5. Click “OK” in the “Options” dialog.
  6. Close and restart AutoCAD.
