Weighing up to 10 pounds per 12' sheet less than competitive lightweight wallboard, SHEETROCK® Brand UltraLight Panels are the lightest 1/2" wallboard panels available.  Additionally, the panels offer best in class sag resistance, and are the only lightweight 1/2" wallboard panels that are building code approved for ceiling installations.  This means that only one type (excluding wet areas) of 1/2" panel is required for a typical project.  SHEETROCK® Brand UltraLight Panels are manufactured to meet ASTM C1396 Specifications for 1/2" gypsum wallboard and 1/2" gypsum ceiling board, and comply with the requirements of the International Building Code and International Residential Code as both regular wallboard and ceiling board.  Ceiling installation is approved under the International Code Council Evaluation Services report ESR-3365 (link for the report is listed under "Additional Resources" on this page).
