A Statement from Chris Griffin, USG President and CEO

June 3, 2020

It has been a hard couple of days. Together, we share in the shock, frustration and anger at what is happening in our communities and across North America.

We are all managing the multitude of feelings and reactions to this difficult, emotional situation, on top of a challenging few months dealing with COVID-19. We are all hurting, but none more than those in our African American communities.

I won’t pretend to have all the answers but let me say this: there is no tolerance at USG for discrimination, racism or hate of any kind. We will continue to foster an environment that puts safety, diversity and inclusivity first—for our employees and our customers.

As a company, we will continue to look for ways to ensure we remain a place where all employees and customers feel they belong. We are committed to diversity and inclusion. Our strength is built upon our different backgrounds, geographies, and experiences that help shape our perspectives and inform all aspects of how we can best serve our customers. In this moment, we are reminded of our different perspectives and the need to listen and learn from one another.

Throughout our history, we made it a point to take care of our customers and have used our values, including safety and diversity, to guide how we should operate. That is never more important than now.

Sincerely,
Chris Griffin
