Buzzard Hall at Eastern Illinois University Project Profile

Buzzard Hall at Eastern Illinois University in Charelston, Illinois is home of the university’s College of Education, departments of journalism and radio and television, and student publications. The building needed an updated appearance, as well as new functional features.

To make the interior visually appealing while staying within budget, 5/8-inch USG Sheetrock® Brand gypsum panels, Firecode® Core was used to construct column details and gypsum board pilasters and beams at department entrances. The features were finished with a variety of USG Sheetrock® Brand joint compounds, primed with USG Sheetrock® Brand First Coat and painted with a single finish coat. USG Sheetrock® Brand Tuf-Tex® wall and ceiling texture created a corridor wainscot.

After the 2-year renovation, Buzzard Hall has modern classrooms, a new two-story glass entry, an open two-story interior hub and the largest auditorium on campus.
