The Workplace

Benefit Description
Flexible Schedules USG has part time opportunities, provides “flexible” work hours with various start and end times, and has a telecommuting option for part of the workweek. In addition, the Summer Hours Program allows modest extensions to an employee’s regular work schedule to allow for Friday afternoons off. 
Casual Attire USG’s dress policy at Corporate headquarters is Business Appropriate Attire. This policy allows employees to wear business casual attire or formal business attire, depending upon daily responsibilities. 
Employee Referral Bonus USG provides a $400 cash payment to corporate employees referring an applicant who is subsequently hired.

Family & Leisure

Benefit Description
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) The EAP is designed to help employees and their families deal with issues affecting their jobs and personal lives. Independent, professional counselors can be contacted through a confidential toll-free number to work with you and family members and make recommendations for action and/or referrals. 
Vacation Buy and Sell Some employees, because of their individual situations, may not want or find it difficult to use all of their vacation each year. Other employees want additional time off. USG SelectBenefits gives employees the opportunity to buy or sell one (1) week of vacation each year. 
Vacation Employees enjoy up to six weeks paid vacation based on their length of continuous service.
Holidays USG’s holiday plan provides up to 11 paid holidays. Many locations provide flexibility by offering “Individual Holidays” that can be used for civic and religious holidays not already included on the schedule. 
Department Care Flexible Spending Account The pre-tax dollars you have deducted from your paycheck for this account may be used for dependent day care for children under 13 or elderly parents whom you support because they are physically and mentally incapable of self care.
Adoption Assistance USG offers an employee up to $10,000 in benefit reimbursement for specific adoption related expenses. 
Mother's Room A quiet, private environment located in USG’s Headquarters, the Mother’s Room accommodates mothers who breast feed their babies and want to pump milk during the work day.
Fitness Membership/Wellness Program Chicago office employees are eligible for subsidized enrollment in the Cardio-Fitness Center. Other locations provide annual medical monitoring and educational materials on various health issues as part of the Company’s wellness initiatives. 
Backup Childcare Program If your baby-sitter lets you down, USG provides emergency childcare in downtown Chicago. 
National Merit Scholarships Sons and daughters of USG employees are eligible to compete for National Merit Scholarships funded by the USG Foundation. These college scholarships honor exceptionally talented high school students.
Travel Services Employees can request pricing and information, airline, car and hotel reservations, changes or cancellations by telephone or email through USG’s Travel Department/Best Travel.

Community Involvement

 

Involvement Description
Matching Gift Plan The USG Foundation will match employee gifts to eligible institutions at a rate of 50 cents on the dollar. Eligible institutions include colleges and universities, hospitals and hospices, health and welfare organizations, and non-profit cultural organizations such as museums, symphonies, libraries and theaters. 
Contributions USG strongly believes in supporting the communities where it has operations. The Company makes annual donations to several national and local charities and organizations. The Company is an active sponsor and hundreds of its employees have participated in volunteer and fundraising programs such as Chicago Cares, American Red Cross, Heartwalk and Habitat for Humanity.
