LEVELROCK® Green, the industry’s first environmentally-friendly poured gypsum concrete underlayment.
From floor to ceiling, inside and out, we help you create sustainable spaces that require fewer resources to build, operate and maintain. Many of our products help meet or exceed the requirements of the industry’s most popular green building and sustainability standards, including LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.) Our nationwide manufacturing and distribution network allows building professionals to source products locally to minimize the environmental impact of transportation.
Bring together performance, aesthetics and sustainability, with the information and tools you need to design and build with confidence.
Reduce your environmental impacts.
- Our ceiling panels have long been manufactured with environmentally-friendly materials and processes.
- Our ceilings portfolio offers hundreds of products that meet or surpass the definition of High-Recycled Content (HRC)by containing more than 50 percent total recycled content, including mineral wool, paper, old ceiling panels, aluminum and steel.
- Our ceiling panels use renewable agricultural materials as an environmentally sound alternative to oil-based binders.
- Nearly 100 percent of the raw materials that enter a ceiling panel plant leave as finished product.
- New products like USG True Wood ceiling panels provide you with a large portfolio of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-certified wood ceiling panels – more than 200 product choices.
Protect your buildings and spaces with outstanding performance and sustainable features.

- Our SECUROCK® gypsum fiber roof board is made from 95 percent recycled materials including synthetic gypsum, an environmentally-friendly byproduct of coal-fired utility plants, and has earned independent certification from Scientific Certification Systems (SCS).
- More than 95 percent of all raw materials used to manufacture our roofing and sheathing products exit the plant in the finished product.
-
DUROCK® Next Gen is the lightest cement board available today and has a unique formulation that provides a more environmentally friendly alternative to other cement board products.
Meet your performance demands with some of the most environmentally friendly building materials available.
Reduce your environmental impacts
-
SHEETROCK® brand gypsum panels have less embodied energy than a wide variety of building products, including brickwork, concrete, particle board, insulation, glass, vinyl flooring, plastics, steel and aluminum.
- Nearly 100 percent of all solid materials used to manufacture our wallboard, paper tape, joint compounds and plasters exit the plant in the finished product.
- We’ve always offered the lightest weight wallboard available. Lighter panels mean less raw materials.
- We were the first manufacturer to use recycled paper in our wallboard in 1967.
- We use more synthetic gypsum, an environmentally-friendly byproduct of coal-fired utility plants, than any other manufacturer in North America, a practice encouraged by the EPA.
-
FIBEROCK® panels are made from 95-percent recycled materials including synthetic gypsum.
Explore how our products provide environmentally-friendly alternatives to some of the typically used tile and flooring options.
Reduce your environmental impacts
- We use a variety of recycled content in our tile and flooring products including synthetic gypsum, an environmentally-friendly byproduct of coal-fired utility plants, in our FIBEROCK® Aqua-Tough™ tile backerboard and underlayment products and in our LEVELROCK® Green floor underlayment, the industry’s first poured underlayment made with synthetic gypsum.
- With our new cement board product DUROCK® Next Gen, the lightest cement board available today, we increased the amount of recycled content by 40 percent and DUROCK Tile Membrane contains nearly 60 percent recycled content.
- More than 95 percent percent of all solid materials used to manufacture FIBEROCK, DUROCK and LEVELROCK exit the plant in the finished product.
-
DUROCK tile membrane and FIBEROCK use significantly less embodied energy and generate significantly fewer embodied CO2 emissions compared to similar competitive products.
-
DUROCK Next Gen is formulated with less energy intensive raw materials reducing its overall carbon footprint. And since it is lighter weight, more board on a truck leads to fewer trucks on the road.
- Because DUROCK Next Gen and FIBEROCK are lighter weight than similar competitive products, more product can be shipped requiring fewer trips and as a result, less fuel.
