LEVELROCK® Green, the industry’s first environmentally-friendly poured gypsum concrete underlayment.
From floor to ceiling, inside and out, we help you create sustainable spaces that require fewer resources to build, operate and maintain. Many of our products help meet or exceed the requirements of the industry’s most popular green building and sustainability standards, including LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.) Our nationwide manufacturing and distribution network allows building professionals to source products locally to minimize the environmental impact of transportation.
We have three EcoBlueprint customer priorities:
- Reduce environmental impact throughout the product life cycle, from where we source materials, to how you ultimately use and dispose of our products
- Continue to develop innovative products that contribute to sustainable spaces
- Help you re-use, repurpose and recycle your USG products
Bring together performance, aesthetics and sustainability, with the information and tools you need to design and build with confidence.
Reduce your environmental impacts.
- Our ceiling panels have long been manufactured with environmentally-friendly materials and processes.
- Many of our ceiling panels contain high levels of recycled content including mineral wool, paper, old ceiling panels, aluminum and steel.
- Our ceiling panels use renewable agricultural materials as an environmentally sound alternative to oil-based binders.
- Nearly 100 percent of the raw materials that enter a ceiling panel plant leave as finished product.
- New products like USG True Wood ceiling panels provide you with a large portfolio of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-certified wood ceiling panels – more than 200 product choices.
Improve your sustainable spaces.
- Reduce energy use and cost while enhancing occupant productivity with high light-reflectant ceiling panels including our Mars ClimaPlus, Frost ClimaPlus and Radar ClimaPlus products.
- We were the first, and remain the only manufacturer to provide you with a zero-emitting, wool-based ceiling panel and we offer you more than 20 ceiling families that outperform or meet the strictest IEQ guidelines for zero and low-VOC emissions.
- With over 30 varieties, all our fine, medium and heavy textured ClimaPlus panels offer the highest level of antimicrobial protection available to help you create healthy, comfortable spaces.
- Our high-durability acoustical panels can help you extend the useful life of your ceilings and reduce operating and replacement costs.
Reuse, repurpose and recycle your ceiling products.
- We take back your approved ceiling panels, regardless of manufacturer, and recycle them into new ceilings panels.
- Our suspension systems are 100 percent recyclable.
Protect your buildings and spaces with outstanding performance and sustainable features.
Reduce your environmental impacts.
- Our SECUROCK® gypsum fiber roof board is made from 95 percent recycled materials including synthetic gypsum, an environmentally-friendly byproduct of coal-fired utility plants, and has earned independent certification from Scientific Certification Systems (SCS).
- More than 95 percent of all raw materials used to manufacture our roofing and sheathing products exit the plant in the finished product.
-
DUROCK® Next Gen is the lightest cement board available today and has a unique formulation that provides a more environmentally friendly alternative to other cement board products.
Improve your sustainable spaces.
-
SECUROCK glass-mat sheathing, SECUROCK gypsum fiber roof board, DUROCK cement board and DUROCK Next Gen all achieve a 10 on the ATSM D3273, the highest possible rating for mold resistance.
- With low VOCs and formaldehyde, SECUROCK gypsum fiber roof board meets the CHPS (Collaborative for High Performance Schools) IEQ protocol, one of the industry’s strictest.
- SECUROCK gypsum fiber roof board provides more consistent bond and superior wind uplift resistance.
- SECUROCK glass-mat sheathing can be exposed to the elements for up to 12 months.
-
SHEETROCK® Brand regular and FIRECODE CORE gypsum sheathing provide customers with weather resistance, water repellency and fire resistance.
Reuse and repurpose your exteriors products.
- To minimize landfill waste, our gypsum product jobsite waste can be recycled by 3rd party gypsum recycler or ground onsite for use as a soil additive.
Meet your performance demands with some of the most environmentally friendly building materials available.
Reduce your environmental impacts
-
SHEETROCK® brand gypsum panels have less embodied energy than a wide variety of building products, including brickwork, concrete, particle board, insulation, glass, vinyl flooring, plastics, steel and aluminum.
- Nearly 100 percent of all solid materials used to manufacture our wallboard, paper tape, joint compounds and plasters exit the plant in the finished product.
- We’ve always offered the lightest weight wallboard available. Lighter panels mean less raw materials.
- We were the first manufacturer to use recycled paper in our wallboard in 1967.
- We use more synthetic gypsum, an environmentally-friendly byproduct of coal-fired utility plants, than any other manufacturer in North America, a practice encouraged by the EPA.
-
FIBEROCK® panels are made from 95-percent recycled materials including synthetic gypsum.
Improve your sustainable spaces
- In general, the life span of gypsum panel products is typically the same as the life span of the building.
- Our SHEETROCK brand gypsum panels are low-emitting VOC products and many of our FIBEROCK® products emit no VOC’s.
- Many of our panel products are moisture, mold, and fire resistant and meet some of the industry’s toughest standards for mold resistance and indoor environmental quality.
- Our SHEETROCK brand paper-faced metal bead provides superior resistance to edge cracking and chipping despite normal building movement and everyday wear-and-tear.
Reuse and repurpose your exteriors products
- To minimize landfill waste, our gypsum product jobsite waste can be recycled by 3rd party gypsum recycler or ground onsite for use as a soil additive.
Explore how our products provide environmentally-friendly alternatives to some of the typically used tile and flooring options.
Reduce your environmental impacts
- We use a variety of recycled content in our tile and flooring products including synthetic gypsum, an environmentally-friendly byproduct of coal-fired utility plants, in our FIBEROCK® Aqua-Tough™ tile backerboard and underlayment products and in our LEVELROCK® Green floor underlayment, the industry’s first poured underlayment made with synthetic gypsum.
- With our new cement board product DUROCK® Next Gen, the lightest cement board available today, we increased the amount of recycled content by 40 percent and DUROCK Tile Membrane contains nearly 60 percent recycled content.
- More than 95 percent percent of all solid materials used to manufacture FIBEROCK, DUROCK and LEVELROCK exit the plant in the finished product.
-
DUROCK tile membrane and FIBEROCK use significantly less embodied energy and generate significantly fewer embodied CO2 emissions compared to similar competitive products.
-
DUROCK Next Gen is formulated with less energy intensive raw materials reducing its overall carbon footprint. And since it is lighter weight, more board on a truck leads to fewer trucks on the road.
- Because DUROCK Next Gen and FIBEROCK are lighter weight than similar competitive products, more product can be shipped requiring fewer trips and as a result, less fuel.
Improve your sustainable spaces
- FIBEROCK Aqua-Tough™ tile backerboard and underlayment represents a new era in substrate performance for wet or dry areas, as recognized within the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) Handbook and International Residential Code.
- For 25 years, DUROCK cement board has set the standard for exceptional tile bond and proven performance in backerboards.
FIBEROCK panels have been tested independently and are proven to emit no formaldehyde or VOC’s.
- DUROCK and FIBEROCK products are specially engineered for moisture and mold resistance.
Reuse and repurpose your exteriors products
- To minimize landfill waste, our FIBEROCK jobsite waste can be recycled by 3rd party gypsum recycler or ground onsite for use as a soil additive.
- Since all LEVELROCK products are job mixed, there is no waste. Applicators mix only what they need to complete the job.
