IMPERIAL® Basecoat Plaster

IMPERIAL Basecoat Plaster is a high-strength, veneer plaster designed for two-coat applications over IMPERIAL Gypsum Base, porous concrete block, or USG™ Plaster Bonder on the following surfaces: monolithic concrete; FIBEROCK® Abuse-Resistant Gypsum Fiber Panels; and DUROCK® Cement Board.

Available in thicknesses from 1/16" to 3/32", it applies by either hand or machine.

The plaster produces a hard, abrasion-resistant surface with compressive strength of 3000 lb./sq. in. that can withstand use in a variety of commercial and residential applications where walls are exposed to significant traffic.

The plaster is formulated to receive DIAMOND® Finish, RED TOP® Finish, high-strength STRUCTO-GAUGE® Gauging Plaster/lime putty, RED TOP Keenes Cement/lime/sand float finish, RED TOP Gauging/lime putty finishes, and IMPERIAL Finish Plaster. It can be applied to IMPERIAL Gypsum Base, directly to porous concrete block, or over a bonding agent on monolithic concrete. When it is used with IMPERIAL Gypsum Base, it provides non-combustibility.

During application, the surface of IMPERIAL Basecoat Plaster must be left rough and open in order to achieve proper bond and suction for the finish coat. Failure to do so may result in delamination of the finish coat.

IMPERIAL Plaster Systems are recommended for interior wall and ceiling surfaces in all types of construction, particularly for hard-wear locations where durability and abrasion-resistance are required.
