President and Chief Executive Officer
Christopher R. Griffin is a customer-focused CEO committed to making USG the easiest company to do business with, delivering the highest quality products and solutions, and building strong teams committed to winning.
With more than 40 years of experience in the building materials industry, Chris is a proven business leader who has developed and led multi-dimensional strategies to accelerate growth, optimize market position and performance, and advance globalization.
Chris joined USG in 1997 and has held various leadership positions, including chief operating officer, executive vice president of Operations, and president of International. He also served as the CEO of Knauf Insulation North America. Under his leadership, USG has expanded its operations globally, developed innovative products and strengthened its leadership position in the building materials industry.
Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada, and has completed the Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is an active community member and has been a board member emeritus for more than 20 years with Chicagoland Habitat for Humanity and Make-A-Wish Illinois. He sits on the board of the National Association of Manufacturers as well as on the board of Interfor, one of the world’s largest forest products companies, where he chairs the audit committee.
