Flexible Schedules

USG has part time opportunities, provides “flexible” work hours with various start and end times, and has a telecommuting option for part of the workweek. In addition, some locations participate in a Summer Hours Program that allows modest extensions to an employee’s regular work schedule to allow for Friday afternoons off. 

Family & Leisure


Employees enjoy up to six weeks paid vacation based on their length of continuous service.


USG’s holiday plan provides up to 11 paid holidays. Many locations provide flexibility by offering “Individual Holidays” that can be used for civic and religious holidays not already included on the schedule. 

Adoption Assistance

USG offers an employee up to $10,000 in benefit reimbursement for adoption related expenses. 

Fitness Membership/Wellness Program

Chicago based employees are eligible for subsidized enrollment in a world class cardio-fitness center. Other locations provide annual medical monitoring and educational materials on various health issues as part of the Company’s wellness initiatives. 

Community Involvement

Matching Gift Plan

The USG Foundation will match employee gifts to eligible institutions at a rate of 50 cents on the dollar. Eligible institutions include colleges and universities, hospitals and hospices, health and welfare organizations, and non-profit cultural organizations such as museums, symphonies, libraries and theaters. We also recognize volunteer hours with a financial contribution to the organization you support.


USG strongly believes in supporting the communities where it operates. The Company makes annual donations to several national and local charities and organizations. The Company is an active sponsor in many organizations and regularly supports volunteer and fundraising programs.
